Embracing the Spirit of the Season – Christmas & Thanksgiving 2024

christmas-and-thanksgiving 2024

To My Family, Friends and All in Between,

Penultimate month of the year, December is that time of year when I look back on the year that has passed, its share of sorrow, and above all, its share of joy. December is the month when the air cools down, Christmas lights are switched on and everything starts to look beautiful. This is a joyous month filled with many moments of togetherness as well as thanksgiving and is perfect to reflect and appreciate the wonderful people in my life.

With Christmas right around the corner, there is lots of hope and anticipation. The holiday season plays a huge role as we prepare ourselves for Christmas; Christmas trees, Christmas décor and Christmas family traditions. During this season, people hang colorful lights on their houses, Christmas trees, cakes, cookies and many other kinds of tarts. This is also when we celebrate the beginning of the year and start the year putting together beautiful memories.

While we rejoice in this great month of December, I also take this opportunity to thank each one of you in a very warm way. So many thanks to my family members who have always defended me with their sincere and wonderful love during the entire year. Indeed, these moments are the ones when our family gathers and laughs the most. There are the times when we enjoy family traditions during the holidays or the times when a warm meal with the family is all that is needed.

There is no doubt about the fact that life is beautiful. To my friends, you make my life sound and feel complete. I’m thankful for your company, for the times when we’ve laughed, for experiences we’ve built together. Every single one of you brings something different to this journey of my life and indeed, I appreciate all the times we’ve spent together, be it when we were sipping hot chocolate in some winter night or when we went out on adventures on our off days. Your friendship is something that I love the most in this world.

So it goes for all those people who belong to my broader circle – those who have just met me this year and have been acquaintances till this point – Thank you for your compassion and your positivity. Every touch has stimulated me to learn something new for myself and for the environment. No connection is too tenuous to be meaningful.

Today, as we feast on our tables filled with delicious treats during this festive season, let us be aware enough not to only be thankful for everything that we posses but everything we are blessed with as well. Thanksgiving might be over but let’s not forget to emphasize on the spirit of thanksgiving this coming December and in the months afterwards. Let’s not take too long and consider the year that has gone by and all the different facets of it. The things we’ve faced, the things we’ve been taught and the things we’ve been given.

The season of giving this year would be incomplete if we neglected to think about the less privileged or those struggling with loneliness. Make an effort to reach out to someone that needs some more reassurance. It does not take much effort to send an SMS or a make a call, but the positive impact these gestures have on a person might shock us.

In the midst of our self celebrations, it would still be relevant to reach to the several people who may otherwise go unnoticed this holiday period. And whether by giving some of his or her time or donating money to a charity, there are unlimited ways of contributing to someone’s progress.

December is also an opportunity for self evaluation and self appraisal in preparation for January next and the New Year. This is also the time to resolve what one wants to achieve in the 2024. Therefore, let us seize this moment as a time for personal and social change without forgetting how to do this at the community level. Let us appreciate all our successes and aim for the new possibilities that come new year’s eve.

As the month of December comes to a close, let’s make it a point to celebrate the end of the year in a manner that is not overly extravagant but rather one that is made up of small occasions—telling stories around the fireplace, having small laughter filled evenings, or simply enjoying company. These small but impactful things are indeed how these moments can be defined by number types.

To all of you, I would like to extend warm thoughts for the holidays in advance and say that I hope each of you may come back to a snowy December filled with love, laughter, warmth, and light. Your houses may be warm, and your hearts may be warm as well, and this beautiful season shall be observed together.

Let’s cherish every moment spent with loved ones and embrace the spirit of giving that defines this time of year.
Happy Holidays! May your December be merry and bright!
With love,
